We didn't have a formal source-verification process until 2023. That's when a case of "genuine" sensors arrived in boxes that had already been opened. The restocking fee was $480. The awkward phone call was free. That incident is why every part we order now goes through a simple checklist before it lands on a workbench.

What was best practice in 2020—get three quotes, pick the middle—doesn't fully apply in 2025. Counterfeit parts are better disguised. Online marketplaces mix genuine and fake stock in the same bin.
